Do you eat breakfast?
I get this particular question often. And my answer may surprise you… Even though I am a yuge fan of intermittent fasting (and 20+ hour fasts), I actually do eat breakfast, sometimes. On days I do eat breakfast, I try to be done with dinner the night before by say 7PM and then have my smoothie around 8AM, so I get ~12-13 hours or so of fasting. Dr Gabrielle Lyon suggests we get adequate protein in our system about 30 minutes after we wake up. What is adequate? Depends… I try to get about 30-50 grams. And I get that through my delicious smoothie that my kids say looks like mud. Lastly, on days I do not eat breakfast, this smoothie can serve as late afternoon meal or even dinner… More often than not, especially when I am going hard all day, the smoothie is dinner.
