Another easy to read, easy to follow, instruction manual for taking back your health via eating the proper diet. It gets a 10/10 because, like many other books I have on my site around nutrition, if you follow this book 100%, you will be wildly healthy and perhaps live to see 100+.
Sisson’s main arguments are the sedentary lifestyles and processed food are the reason for our terrible health. He gives 10 key principles to follow to ensure you gain, regain or keep your health. Here are the 10 below:
- Eat lots of plants and animals – A “paleo” diet.
- Avoid Poisonous Things – Eliminate processed foods, sugars, grains, and unhealthy fats (toxic vegetable seed oils).
- Move Frequently at a Slow Pace – Walking, hiking, cycling, anything low intensity. Also called Zone 2.
- Lift Heavy Things – Incorporate resistance and strength training into your life.
- Sprint Once in a While – Get your heart rate up to it’s max… 220 – your age = highest desired heart rate.
- Get Plenty of Sleep – Obvious.
- Play – Recreational sports, water sports, kickball, whatever, just play!
- Get Adequate Sunlight – Get natural Vitamin D, especially in the morning to jumpstart your circadian rhythm.
- Avoid Stupid Mistakes – Don’t do anything that could end your life or injure you permanently…
- Use Your Brain – Keep that thing strong, use it! Games, business, math, whatever, use your brain!
